Accepted into the ASCAP Foundation/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop

April 5, 2008 - O Night Divine creators Leo Kirschner and Blaze Kelly Coyle recently participated in the ASCAP/Disney Musical Workshop in NYC in March. The songwriters took part in several workshop sessions and had the unique opportunity to observe and audit new musical projects along with other top musical theatre talents, as well as met with a host of Broadway legends such as Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, David Zippel, Carol Hall, and Glenn Slater among others.
As part of its continuing commitment to nurture new American musicals, The ASCAP Foundation sought new musicals and talent for the annual ASCAP Foundation/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop in NYC. Oscar and Grammy-winning composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz whose credits include the Broadway smash Wicked, Godspell, Pippin , the Walt Disney films Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Enchanted and the Dreamworks' film The Prince of Egypt served as Artistic Director.

The NYC Musical Reading
August 29, 2007 - On Tuesday, August 21st, O Night Divine premiered on the NYC theatre scene as a stage reading for an audience filled with invited guests and industry insiders at The Studio Theatre, Theatre Row on West 42nd Street.
The reading reunited actress Shannon Lambert-Ryan with show creators Blaze Kelly Coyle and Leo Kirschner. Shannon performs the leading role of Mary on the original 2005 Demo Cast Recording. Now, she was joined by a troupe of highly talented New York actors and production staffers working to premiere O Night Divine for next season.
Tim Errickson of the Boomerang Theatre Company served as the reading's host, and generous production assistance was provided by JJ Entertainment. Check the Pictures page for shots from the stage reading of New York's hottest new musical!

Finalist in the Annual NJ Playwrights Competition.
July 14th, 2007 - The Performing Arts Theatre Series at William Patterson University is hosting the 2008 NJ Playwrights Competition, and O Night Divine has been selected to advance to the final judging round from hundreds of submitted works. Three productions will be awarded with produced workshops by the university's theatre department this Fall 2007 with the prospect of a fully produced and staged premiere at the Shea Center for Performing Arts Sping 2008.
